Marton hosting sustainable transport expo

Tranzwatching in rural Rangitikei, New Zealand

Moving Around Marton, a country town of just under 5000 residents,  is the theme of an expo organised by Sustainable Rangitikei facilitator Michelle Bisset and Rangitikei Active's Kathleen Murphy for this coming Saturday 11 June 2011. The expo appears to combine elements of a country fair (races and decorated trikes for kids) with stands and displays looking at all forms of alternative transport. Horizons Regional Council (covering the Manawatu, Rangitikei and Wanganui areas) will not only have a display linked to consultations for the up coming regional transport strategy renewal but also will also provide free buses. A large range of technologies linked to biking and disability access and movement, talks on peak oil, and a race to find the slowest biker in the world are included. An unusual item listed "Constable Allan Wright's transport through the ages display" .
